For many California students, school feels irrelevant to their future success. Many disengage—or drop out.

The Magnolia Project bridges classroom education with students’ dreams for their futures by connecting:

SCHOOLS

We partner with schools and districts to provide career exploration and apprenticeships for grades 7-12.

“Guerneville School loves our partnership with Magnolia Project. It gives our students real-world, life and work experience, and they enjoy every minute of it. It prepares students for the workplace, it connects them with their community. It builds their confidence all the way around.”

– Sarah Deering, Vice Principal, Guerneville School

BUSINESSES

There can be concerns about the time burden of student mentorship. Our training and support make it easy and rewarding to guide students through hands-on experience, while “recruiting” future talent!

“The Magnolia Project opens a little window into our world for high school students to see what it's like to work for a small scale organic family farm. Students are so interested and engaged with learning a little bit more about where their food comes from. I love having them on the farm, I love their energy and curiosity. And even if they decide farming is not for them, that experience is just as valuable.”

– Kristin Morrison, Preston Farm and Winery

By linking the classroom with the workplace:

  • Students build durable skills and career plans

  • Businesses build their talent pipeline and community presence

Our Programs

  • A young girl and an older man stand side by side in an art studio, both wearing aprons with paint stains. The girl has long dark hair and is wearing a pink hoodie and a pink headscarf. The man has gray hair and a beard, wearing glasses and a brown hat. Behind them, the studio is decorated with abstract and colorful artwork on the walls, and various pottery and art supplies are visible on the tables.

    Career Exploration

“The Magnolia Career Exploration Pathway has prepared me for success in college and career because I have learned various skills such as patience, communication skills, social skills, and more.”

    Apprenticeship

“The Magnolia Project Apprenticeship Program was the most important two weeks of my whole high school career. It showed me what I would like to pursue in the future and gave me hands-on experience.”
